What progressive overload is
Progressive overload means doing a little more over time: more weight, more reps at the same weight, or more quality sets. It is the most reliable driver of strength and muscle gain, and the most common reason people stall is simply not knowing what they did last time.
How Shredify suggests your next set
Every exercise remembers your last working sets. When you hit the top of your rep range, Shredify suggests adding weight; when you do not, it suggests beating last time's reps at the same weight. The suggestion is pre-filled, so progressing is the default, not an extra step.
Double progression in practice
Example: your plan says 3 sets of 8 to 12 on bench. You log 185 lb for 12, 11 and 10. Next time Shredify keeps 185 and nudges you toward 12 on every set. Once you hit 12, 12, 12, it suggests the next jump in weight and resets the reps toward 8.
Overload needs fuel
You cannot out-program a calorie deficit forever. Because Shredify tracks protein and calories in the same app, it is obvious when a stall is a food problem rather than a training problem.
How to do it in Shredify
- Log a session. Record your working sets as usual.
- Open the next session. Shredify pre-fills a target based on last time.
- Beat it. Add the suggested weight or reps, or override with your own number.
- Watch the trend. Exercise history and PR alerts show your progress over weeks.
